Istanbul - Zwischen Orient und Okzident

Istanbul ist die einzige Metropole die auf zwei Kontinenten liegt. Ein Teil liegt in Europa, der andere in Asien. Geteilt wird sie durch den Bosporus.

Es ist eine Stadt der Gegensätze. 

Istanbul vereint das typisch Orientalische mit dem kosmopolitischen Flair einer Millionenstadt. Hupende Autos, die versuchen im Verkehr vorwärts zu kommen, Menschen, die hasten und ihren Geschäften nachgehen, all das unterscheidet Istanbul nicht von anderen Millionenmetropolen dieser Welt.

Es ist eine schillernde Großstadt mit Einkaufszentren und einem boomenden Tourismus, aber auch mit Stadtvierteln deren Einwohner am Existenzminimun leben.

Ein Besuch kann die Vielfalt der Stadt nicht ansatzweise bewusst machen. Wer die Stadt kennen lernen will, sollte sich viel Zeit nehmen und öfters hierher zurückkehren. Und auch als Mekka des Shoppings ist Istanbul bekannt und macht seinem Ruf alle Ehre. Ob Bazar, Geschäft oder Einkaufszentrum.

Doch Istanbul ist nicht nur reich an Schönheit, zahlreichen Sehenswürdigkeiten und einer faszinierenden Geschichte sondern vorallem an gastfreundlichen und warmherzigen Menschen, die stets hilfsbereit und offen sind. 

Keine Frage, das Istanbul des 21. Jahrhunderts mit ihren geschätzten 15 bis 20 Millionen Einwohnern - offiziell sind es 12 Millionen - ist eine muslimisch geprägte Stadt. Der Ruf des Muezzin zum Gebet ist in jedem kleinen Winkel der Stadt zu hören, was meiner Meinung nach einen Teil des "Zaubers" das die Stadt an sich hat ausmacht.

Istanbul ist eine Stadt die niemals schläft, Menschengewusel, hupende Autos, der Ruf des Muezzin, Diskotheken, Cafe`s und Restaurants.

Zu der Lebenskultur der Istanbuler gehört trotz aller Hektik einer Großstadt der Müßiggang, der vielleicht sogar eine geschickt gewählte "Überlebensstrategie" ist.

Was will ich mit all dem sagen? : Merhaba Istanbul <3

Istanbul between Orient and Occident

Istanbul is the world´s only metropolis which is located on two continents. One part of the city is in Europe and the other part in Asia. It´s seperated by the Bosphorus.

It´s a city of contrasts. 

Istanbul unifies the all-oriental with the cosmopolitan athmosphere of a megacity. Hooting cars, which try to forge ahead through the traffic. Hasting people who are doing their shopping. All that doesnt contrast strongly with other mega cities.

It´s a colorful city with shopping malls, a booming tourism but also with distrcts where people live on the breadline.

A stay cannot rudimentally bring the whole variety of the city to mind.

Who wants to get to know the city, needs a lot time and should plan to come back here some more times.

Istanbul is also known as the "Mekka of Shopping" and Istanbul lives up to its fame. Shops, bazaar or shopping mall you can find all that in Istanbul. 

But Istanbul isn´t only rich in beauty, numerous sights and a fascinating history but especially for it´s  welcoming and warmhearted people, who are helpful and open-minded at all times. 

No doubt, Istanbul of the 21 century, with its assumed 15 to 20 million inhabitats- 12 million offical- is a muslim shaped city. You can hear the prayer call from the muezzin in every part of the city, which is an important part of "Istanbul´s magic" in my mind.

Istanbul is a city that never sleeps. Masses of people, hooting cars, the prayer calls from the muzzin, clubs, cafe`s and restaurants.

In spite of all the rush, idleness is an important part of the way of living in Istanbul.
